With summer around the corner, it’s best to get your very own paddleboard while they’re available and at great prices!
It’s no surprise that the bright Quebec sun and warm summer water make this the favorite season for paddle boarding. No need to worry about wetsuits and hand warmers when it’s 30 degrees outside! Instead, just put on your bathing suit and hit the water. There are still a few crucial steps to complete before setting off with your board this summer.
Preparation is the key to a successful summer SUP season and getting into the habit of going when the weather is nice! If you plan to use your paddle board after a long off season, it is important to prepare it properly to ensure it is safe and ready to use.
Here are some steps you can take to get your SUP ready for the summer:
Clean the board: Use mild soap* and water to thoroughly clean the board, removing any dirt or debris that may have accumulated during the off season. Be sure to rinse it well to remove any soap residue.
Inspect the board: Look for any signs of damage, including cracks or dents. If you notice any damage, have it repaired before using the board.
Check the fins: make sure the fins are securely attached and not damaged. If they are loose or damaged, have them repaired or replaced.
Check the safety strap: The strap should be securely fastened and undamaged. If damaged, replace it before using the card.
Inflate the board: If you have an inflatable paddle board, inflate it to the recommended PSI and check for leaks or damage.
Store the board properly: If you don’t plan to use the board right away, store it in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your paddle board is in good condition and ready for the season.
Always remember to wear a life jacket and take proper safety precautions when using your paddle board.
Happy 2023 season! 🌞
